Rainford’s poor form continued with two Bank Holiday defeats.

Despite a record breaking innings from Daron Cruickshank (206 in 137 balls including 19x4’s and 13x 6’s) Rainford’s 314 for 8 against Colwyn was not enough.

The Welsh outfit proceeded to pass their target with six wickets in hand. A six wicket loss at Formby followed on Monday after being bowled out for 100.

It was a different story for Rainford 2nd X1 whose two Bank Holiday wins now put them very close to clinching promotion.

They earned a four wicket win at Birkenhead St Mary’s with Andrew Harrison taking 4 for 44 and Steven Cline bagging 3 for 39 as Mary’s were dismissed for 148. Will Tabern (61) and Justin Dalrymple (48) secured the win.

On Monday the 2nds demolished Old Xaverians for 67 with skipper Harrison posting a career best of 7 for 18. Euan Tully then led the way to a comfortable win with 35 not out.

The Rainford U18’s also enjoyed success over the weekend winning the Southport and District U18 cup final. A superb bowling and fielding display saw them dismiss Ormskirk U18’s for just 16, before going on to complete the win.
