RAINFORD’S trip to Colwyn Bay produced some excellent cricket in one of the Med Imaging Liverpool and District Cricket Competition’s best environments but ended in a narrow two wicket defeat.

After being put in Rainford lost early wickets leaving opener James Seward (44) to rebuild the innings until Daron Cruickshank joined him in the middle.

The Trinidadian then proceeded to hit 103 not out in 94 balls sharing a 115 run 5th wicket partnership with John Dotters (43) to enable a declaration at 230 for 6.

Cruickshank (5 for 97) then performed in the second half helping to reduce Colwyn Bay to 117 for 6 before the Welshmen rallied strongly. Despite Dotters claiming 3 for 36, Paul Jenkins (52) and D.Rhys (41) came together to share a 94 run 7th wicket partnership which effectively won the game.
