WILDCARD A.B.C capped off their busiest season yet with a boxing show at Clock Face Labour Club.

Three skills bouts opened the show with the three 10-year-olds - Aidan Gallagher, Kain Reilly and female Ciara Hodnett - each having to complete three rounds of exhibition boxing with opponents from as far way as east Yorkshire.

Next up the schools category boxers with wins for Jack McNamara, Patrick Maughan, Danny Robb and close call defeats for Lewis Ion and Adam Carberry.

Junior Category next Jack Jones dropping one of two controversial decisions after a high octane bout of sustained pressure against his opponent from Kirkby.

The next bout was easy to judge with Anthony Maudsley turning in a classy performance to out-point his Crewe ABC opponent.

Then it was the Fighting Jack McLorie who had the crowd on its feet with an aggressive all-action display it seemed a decision was in the bag but the judges awarded the contest to his Prescot Higherside opponent Representing the Seniors were Shane Jackman and Gaz Lee. After a promising start Jackman had to be retired through a shoulder injury just seconds before the end of the first.

Gaz Lee closed the show - and what a finale. After an uncharacteristic slow start he was sent out in the third, being told he was behind, andwent after his opponent from Higherside with a new resolve.

He turned the bout into a battle of who wants it most - the final bell not coming soon enough for the Prescot fighter who had done enough in the first two rounds to secure a win.

Boxer of the night went to schoolboy Jack McNamara for a mixture of skill, fitness and heart - all the attributes needed to make it in a game in which so few do.
