WILDCARD ABC boxer Ryan Moore's attempt at taking the gold in the ABAE 32KG class schoolboy final ended on Saturday - but the youngster vowing to come back stronger.

Previously unbeaten Moore walked into a packed arena with chief coaches Dom Hodnett and Dave Allen to face also unbeaten Hassan from the Repton club, Bethnel Green.

The bell signalling the start both boys got to work, apart from the East Londoner being a southpaw matching styles, speed and ring mastery wowed the crowd in a close round with Moore probably just edging it.

Returning to his corner at the end of round one Moore looked drained and downbeat, causing concern from his corner who decided to call a halt to proceedings in the best interests of the lad’s welfare.

Moore's tough run for the championship, including a hard fought semi-final less than two weeks previously, has obviously taken a heavy toll on the 12-year-old from Fingerpost mentally and physically.

The club are confident that the young Cowley lad will bounce back stronger.
