Thatto Heath on Engage Crusade
7:56pm Friday 31st August 2012 in Amateur Rugby League
Thatto Heath Crusaders became the thirtieth club this year to hold an Engage with your Club action event as their impressive facilities were further improved by the erection of a permanent safety barrier around the club’s second pitch and the addition of a concrete walkway. Club Secretary Tracy Kilgannon was very happy with the efforts of the volunteers and the results they achieved. She explained: “These two jobs have been on our “to do” list for some time.
“The engage initiative has provided the catalyst for getting these jobs off the list and actually done. Having this experience, we can hopefully make this event even bigger and better in the future”.
The Mayor of St Helens, Councillor Geoff Almond, visited the Thatto Heath construction site before Rugby League Legends and proud parents of young Crusaders, Terry O’Connor and Lee Briers also came down to support.
Lee Briers is the Crusaders U9 assistant coach and a mentor to many of the club coaches and was also heavily involved in communicating the event through his popular twitter feed.
He pointed out: “I was at this club when it was St Helens Crusaders and it didn’t have all these great facilities then. It is really encouraging to see so many people working so hard to make the club an even better place.”
