Ryan Rogers grabs five as red-hot Recs go on rampage

Pilkington Recs 60 Ashton Bears 12.

RYAN Rogers raced in for five tries as red-hot Recs put the Bears to the sword.

Ian Stanley also crossed for a hat trick as the home side cut loose in the Ruskin Drive sunshine.

Stand off Rogers crossed twice early on, his first following a majestic weaving run and his second after a clinical passing movement involving John Rees and Liam Bostock.

Youngsters Josh Leatherbarrow and Andrew Knapper were also among the tries.

But the pick of the bunch in the first half came from centre Ian Stanley, who was sent hurtling down the touchline by Jamie Smith’s cut out pass.

The rout continued after the break, with Stanley catching the eye thanks to two more tries that completed his hat trick.

He also supplied the magnificent offload that sent Rogers in for his third.

Workhorse Jon Ford was rewarded with a rare touchdown.

But this really was the Rogers show and he got on the end of two breaks to score his fourth and fifth tries.

Danny Lynch enjoyed a solid afternoon with the boot, converting eight of the 11 tries.

Rogers was the Duke of Cambridge man of the match and Stanley was the Mansion House supporters’ man of the match.

Recs A maintained their lead at the top of the Domino’s NWC Men’s League Division Four with a 30-28 victory over Wigan St Cuthberts A.
