Haydock pipped by late Hindley scores

DIVISION One leaders Haydock conceded two late tries to lose only their second game of the season at Hindley.

The home team opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a try from Ryan McKenzie which was converted by Stephen Sutcliffe.

Haydock replied in the 14 minute through a try when a neat pass from Dean Dollin put Josh Jackson through the gap to score which was kicked by Karl Dingsdale before Hindley pulled away with a try scored and converted by Stephen Sutcliffe in the 22nd minute.

Another try for Hindley from Jack Silcock was again converted by Stephen Sutcliffe in the 27th minute pushed them further ahead but Sean Swift cut the deficit with an unconverted try in the 36th minute to make it 18-10 at half time.

Hindley’s lead was cut even further by Karl Dingsdale’s timely 75 metre interception which Dean Dollin converted to make it 18-16 Haydock took the lead in the 61st minute with a Craig Haughey try converted by Dingsdale and stretched their lead to 18-26 with a Daryl Rotherham try.

However, that was to be the last points recorded by the visitors as Kieran Whittle scored for Hindley in the 70th minute to pull it back to 22-26.

Finally a 76 minute try and conversion from Stephen Sutcliffe sealed a two point win for Hindley.

St Helens Windows Man of Match went to Dean Dollin with good displays from Craig Haughey and Wayne Dollin.
