PILKINGTON Recs have secured back to back wins for the first time this season after recording a 40-12 victory over top of the table Milford Marlins.

It was a fast start for Pilks with Danny Lynchscoring on the back of a break from Ryan Hilliard. Lynch was then able to convert for an early 6-0 lead.

However, just four minutes later, Marlins levelled the score after Martin Loveridge intercepted a stray pass and ran 90 metres to score. He then nailed the touchline conversion to make it six a piece.

Milford were starting to turn the screw and their pressure turned to points after 27 minutes as Zak Snellgrove took advantage of a gap in the defence to score. Loveridge scored the conversion to give the Marlins a 12-6 lead.

Then came the games turning point as James Barker was sent to the sin bin for stripping the ball away when Pilks were in a dangerous position, something that the referee saw as a professional foul. From the resulting penalty, Chris Claytonmanaged to power his way over from short range. Lynch scored the conversion to level the match once more.

Whilst the Marlins were still a man light, Pilks managed to fit in two more tries as first Kyran Knapper finished off a flowing team move out wide and then Tez Riley managed to ground the ball right on the half time whistle. Lynch hit both conversions to put the Pilks in a commanding lead at half time.

The second half was much more conservative from Pilks, they had two penalties in the first 20 minutes of the second half and took the two on both occasions with Danny Lynch scoring them both. The second penalty saw Milford receive their second yellow card of the game as Snellgrove was given ten minutes for saying something out of turn.

The game was settled in the last ten minutes as Ryan Hilliard scored two breakaway tries. Lynch scored one conversion and Knapper hit the other as Lynch was forced off with a knee injury.

Jake Hodson received the AMDEC Man of the Match award.
