PILKINGTON Recs entertain Millom in the Challenge Cup third round on Saturday (2.30pm).

This is the second time in three years that the Recs have reached this round, last time was in 2016 when they took on championship two side London Skolars and beat them 13-0, being beaten by Halifax in the next round.

This year they have a realistic chance of progressing to round four of the competition again with the possibility of another high profile match on their hands.

The big challenge is to firstly get the win over fellow NCL team Millom, who convincingly beat Bradford Dudley Hill in the last round two weeks ago.

A club spokesperson said: "We hope the town gets behind us on Saturday being the only town team left in the competition.

"We would appreciate as much support as possible to cheer the team on."

To that end Recs club sponsor Hattons Travel have put two free buses on to transport spectators who wish to watch the match at Ruskin Drive Sports Village.

They will follow the following routes;

Start at Haydock Mercure down past Tesco along Clipsley Lane, West End Road then past the Ship Inn Blackbrook, Blackbrook Road, Park Road, Parr St, onto Stand B10 Bickerstaff St, Cotham St, Baldwin St, Duke St, Denton’s Green Lane into Ruskin Drive. Pick up times start at 1:15pm, 1:30pm at Stand B10 then on to Ruskin.

The second bus will start at Gorsey Lane, Clock Face, Clock Face Road, Marshall Cross Road, Elton Head Road, Sherdley Road, Elephant Lane, Lugsmore Lane, Prescot Road, Boundary Road, Denton’s Green Lane into Ruskin Drive.
