CLOCK Face Miners’ first year in the NCL ended with a 24-40 loss to the visiting Dewsbury Moor and 8th place in NCL division 3.
Clock didn’t get off to the best of starts when they found themselves 0-18 down with the first half hour but, a Luke Leyden try gave them some hope until Dewsbury squeezed in for another to give the visitors a 6-24 half time lead.
Dewsbury scored again within 30 seconds of the restart with the Clock support expecting a landslide to the visitors. But, Clock dug deep and scored four trys through Jordan Eccleston, a penalty try when Leyden was tackled without the ball and two for Michael Carney. But, Dewsbury remained a constant threat and still racked up two further trys.
Clock’s first season in the NCL was all about finding their feet. Yet, they finished the season tantalisingly close to a play-off position with one of the youngest sides in the competition. The club can head into the off season full of optimism for next year.
