HAYDOCK'S fairytale Challenge Cup campaign continues as they travel to Oldham for their fourth round tie.

The Yickers will take around 300 fans with them for the crunch tie against the Championship side which is to be streamed live on the BBC Sport website.

Haydock, coached by former Saints winger Chris Smith, are the first eighth-tier side to have reached this stage of the famous knockout competition.

The giant-killers have already seen off National Conference side Wath Brow Hornets 17-4 away in round one, before beating BARLA National Cup winners Thornhill Trojans 30-20 at home in the second round.

The North West Premier Division champions then saw off London side Wests Warriors in round three to set up the big occasion.

Last week the side got to train with saints assistant coach Sean Long in preparation and they will have a session at Saints' Cowley facilities on Friday.

"Everyone is buzzing really, it is new to the players and new territory for the club," said club committee member John Bradbury.

"It's going to be a huge experience and we've had quite a lot of publicity and the whole community has really jumped on it as well.

"When we had our one home game against Thornhill there was 500 people there and in my 25 years here I have never seen a crowd that big for anything."

He added: "We're expecting to take 250 to 300 supporters with two double-deckers going and lots of cars. We're making it a club theme and get everyone involved. Most of the juniors will be walking out with the players on the day."

The club has continued to be inspired by the memory of club founder Eric Smith who passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer last June.

"Eric has been a massive factor for us," added John.

"Since he died we have been doing it for him really and trying to keep the Team Eric theme going. We're playing really well at the moment and we've had no easy games to get this far, we've had to earn every win.

"All of Eric's family will be there and we'll have a team breakfast on the day and we'll be having a good party win or lose.

"We're not going just to make the numbers up or to get our faces on TV and see what happens."
