PILKINGTON Recs continued their woeful away form with another close loss, going down 26-18 at West Hull.

Hull opened the scoring in the first minute as they marched upfield from the kick-off and powered over from close range.

Recs were up against it in the opening 10 minutes but their line wasn't breached. As it was, Kyran Knapper got the visitors on the board as Greg Smith created enough space on the left for him to dive over. Minutes later, Owen Livesey continued his scoring tun as Smith was again the provider on the left.

With half-time approaching the home side regained the lead with another short range try, the conversion making the score 10-8 at the break.

The opening 10 minutes of the second half saw Hull effectively seal the game as they opened up a lead that was never caught as Pilks defensive errors around the play-the-ball was punished with another crash over try, before a deflected kick fell nicely for the chasing player who scored beneath the posts making the score 20-8.

Pilks continued to push and reduced to deficit to one score as the impressive Mike Garrity sent Livesey clear for his second of the game, Greg Smith's conversion making it 20-14.

The visitors, however were unable to hold out the strong running Hull who did not take long to reply with a converted try of their own with 15 minutes to play.

Pilks did manage a try in the corner as Kyran Knapper finished a well worked move, however Smith's kick went agonisingly wide and with only two minutes to play, the game was over.
