OWEN Livesey scored a hat-trick as Pilkington Recs gave their best performance of the season so far to run out 34-12 winners against Wath Brow.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games judo gold medallist crossed for the opening try and the last two in the National Conference League Premier Division clash.

Wingman Jake Hodgson broke clear before offloading to Livesey to finish off in the 25th minute, with man of the match Greg Smith converting.

Interchange hooker Josh Lynch backed up a John Rees break to make it 12-0 at the break.

A blistering start to the second half saw left Recs doubling their advantage with Lynch’s second score follow one from veteran Mark Ashton.

The Cumbrians pulled two tries back, the first before Livesey charged over untouched after a wonderful pass by Danny Lynch.

And Livesey used his considerable strength to complete his treble beneath the posts after a Jamie Smith offload.
