THATTO Heath Crusaders continued their winning start to their Kingstone Press National League Conference Division One campaign with an impressive 36-14 victory over Normanton Knights at Hattons Solicitors Crusader Park.

Having opened with a 34-18 win at Ince Rose Bridge a week ago the Crusaders' never really looked in danger against a Normanton side coming in off the back of a 20-14 defeat to Oulton Raiders in their first outing.

Sean Leicester led the way for Thatto with two tries and four goals in a man of the match performance as the Crusaders bagged seven tries to the Knights' three to climb to the top of the table.

Danny Wakefield and Dave Sutton added to Leicester's double before the break to give Thatto a 22-4 half time lead.

Centre Connor Taylor crossed just before the half-time hooter for the visitors but was unable to add the extras as they struggled to keep a foothold in the contest.

In the second half the difference in class between the two sides was again evident as Chris Frodsham, Jamie Tracey and Adam Hesketh added further scores for the home side.

A Lee Hammond score brought the Knights back within 12 at 22-10 early in the second half to give them a glimmer of hope but Tracey's fine interception and length of the field run to the line put the result beyond doubt, despite Taylor's second effort late on.
