BLACKBROOK remained in play-off contention after coming from behind to pull off a superb 20-18 victory at the home of Holmfirth rivals Underbank Rangers.

The visitors made the perfect start scoring the opening try in only the third minute.

Following a forced error Sean Richardson, Craig Dubois and Ste Marsh drove at their opponents try line and it was Danny Fairhurst who took advantage of a gap in the defence to dive over the whitewash to score.

Rangers didn’t take long to respond as two minutes later winger Jon Tinker broke clear and evaded the cover to score a well taken try in the corner with Richard Pogson adding a touch line conversion.

Just before the half hour mark Underbank increased the lead following a contentious penalty. Kris Harrop crossed with Pogson again converting.

Five minutes later Lee Brown crossed the try line only to be pulled by for a forward pass.

Brook soon got back into the game following a penalty for a high tackle.

Stephen Parkinson took the ball in towards the line and he spotted a gap to score and also added the conversion.

Brook regained their lead with their second try in three minutes from the re-start. Joe Bate and Jon Glover did the hard yards taking play back towards the home team's try line before Joe Bate and Ste marsh combined to send Scott Davidson over to score in the corner with Stephen Parkinson adding a superbh touch line conversion.

Right on the half time whistle Underbank Winger Jon Tinker broke clear again and looked likely to score before a brilliant cover tackle from Deon Cross hauled him into touch at the corner flag.

Five minutes into the second period second rower Scott Davidson scored his second try. Joe Bate was tackled right on the line before Danny Fairhurst found Davidson with an astute pass.

Mid way through the half Joel Croker got Underbank back into the game with a try converted by Pogson as the pressure finally told on Brooks defence.

The momentum had swung towards the home team and only two points separated the two teams with a quarter of the game remaining.
