A Greg Smith masterclass helped Recs record a convincing win over local rival Wigan St Judes.

Recs were first on the scoresheet when Smith placed an inch perfect kick for wingman Kyran Knapper to touch down in the corner unopposed.

The visitors responded with a converted try, after a sustained spell of pressure was rewarded when a their powerful centre collected his on chip ahead to score on the right.

Recs weathered the Wigan onslaught, and returned with interest as a slick handling move saw Ryan Hilliard race over, before Kyran Knapper scored his second of the afternoon following play that would not look out of place in the professional game.

Lynch converted and then added a penalty goal on the hooter to give a half time score of 16-6 A blistering opening 10 minutes by the Glassmen effectively sealed the game with 14 point blitz.

Greg Smith scored his first of the afternoon after a neat offload by Mike Garrity sent Hilliard through, who supplied the final pass to leave Smith with a clear run to score beneath the posts.

Andrew Knapper was next to score after he was first to a Danny Lynch hoof downfield. Lynch converted both scores and added another penalty conversion for good measure.

Smith then showed his dazzling footwork, after breaking free from an attempted tackle, he weaved his way between three defenders to score, before mesmerising the St Judes defence with goose step and change of pace to complete his hat-trick.

Lynch converting both.

A consolation try by impressive Judes centre was scant reward as Ian Stanley overcame a difficult afternoon to add two tries to his seasons tally.

The first after Josh Lynch scooped up a loose ball and sent him clear, with the second minutes later after a Smith pass created enough space for him power over from close range.

Lynch converting one for the final say of the afternoon.

Greg Smith collected both the AMDEC and Bold Trye Centre man of the match awards.
