RECS got over the disappointment of the previous week, with a dominant performance against their Halifax based opponents.

With Greg Smith returning from injury Recs had more fluency in attack and it the game was only two minutes old when they opened the scoring following a perfectly weighted grubber kick by Danny Lynch allowing wingman Andy Nisbet to out-pace his opposite number and touch down in the corner. Lynch converted

Nisbet was over again minutes later when a slick handling move gave him enough space to race to the corner, touching down under the attention of the cover defence.

Greg Smith was next on the score sheet for the try of the game.

Jamie Smith started the move off with a wonderful offload in the tackle to the supporting Jono Peers.

The prop forward the calmly committed the full-back before handing over to Greg who raced beneath the posts to touch down. Lynch converted.

Lynch, buoyed by his selection to tour South Africa with the BARLA Lions, was next on the score sheet following strong build up play by Jamie Smith and Paul Leyland providing enough space for the diminutive scrum-half to dart over from close range, converting for good measure.

With a minute to play to the half, Recs were pushing for a decisive score, however a Greg Smith kick was fielded by the Elland centre who found himself with open space in front, and raced 90 metres to score a converted try.

The visitors started the second half the strongest and were rewarded when the winger fielded a drop-out and charged through some woeful Recs defending to score beneath the posts and bring them back into contention.

Recs settled the ship and a long distance try by Ian Stanley, using a Martin Offiah-esque ‘in-and-out’, highlighted why he is the club's leading scorer.

Stanley’s try was swiftly followed by Greg Smith’s second of the afternoon when he intercepted on his own line to canter the length of the pitch unchallenged. Lynch converted both scores.

The final say of the afternoon went to Elland who again exposed some weak Recs defending, running from the dummy half position to score in the right corner.

Jamie Smith was the AMDEC Man of the Match, with Jon Key taking the Bold Tyre Centre award.
