Blackbrook 20 Underbank Rangers 24.

Brook slipped to their second defeat in their opening two fixtures in Division Two of the Kingstone Press Cider NCL.

As last week a late rally saw them come within a whisker of snatching the two points however the visitors held on to claim the two points.

The home side opened the scoring when on 12 minutes a break from Stephen Parkinson was supported by Tommy Cunningham who outpaced the cover to score an unconverted try in the corner.

The lead didn’t last too long as the visitors scored two tries is as many minutes to take a 12-4 lead. Brook lost possession in their own half and Kris Harrop took advantage to score and direct from the restart a break down the left led to a try for Michael Lang both by Joel Croker.

Kris Harrop added his second converted try before half time as half time approached and only a superb cover tackle by Stephen Parkinson stopped Michael Lang adding a further score on the half time whistle.

Mid way through the second half Winger Deon Cross dragged Brook back into the game he broke clear from inside his own half he stepped round the Full Back for superbly taken solo try in the corner.

Within minutes Brook found themselves further behind as Kris Harrop completed his Hat Trick and Joel Croker landed his fourth goal of the Afternoon to give their side a 24-8 lead.

Brook refused to let their heads go down and sensed a way back into the game. From the restart Brad Ramejkis collected the ball and look play near to Underbank try line where Jimmy Brown sent out a superb pass To Stephen Marsh who scored between the posts leaving Stephen Parkinson with an easy

conversion.

With five minutes left on the clock Brook were in again Jordy Welsbys chip kick into the corner was palmed back by Parkinson to Danny Fairhurst who scored in the corner Parkinson added a touch line conversion to reduce the arrears to only 4 points.

A penalty gave Brook one more set of six in their opponents half however Underbank held out and secured the win.
