WITH Recs knowing that promotion will need to come through the play-offs route, they are hitting form at just the right time, with a 64-4 victory at Ovenden being their latest big win.

It was the fourth time in a row that Recs have posted a half-century score.

Danny Filson started the ball rolling, racing 70 metres to touch down.

Filson scored his second of the afternoon minutes later when Ian Stanley flicked a pass to his wingman, who finished in the corner.

Ovenden rallied and scored a well-worked try of their own, but it was mere consolation as Lynch collected the kick-off to score within seconds of the restart, converting his own try.

Recs continued to pressure the home side and when John Rees charged on to a Greg Smith pass to score besides the posts, and when Knapper raced 90 metres minutes later to score a wonderful individual try the result was all but confirmed.

Mark Briody got back to scoring ways, crashing over from close range just before the half.

The hosts showed some resilience in the second half, holding Recs out for the opening 20 minutes.

But once winger Phil Henry dived over in the corner, the spirit was finally broken. Richard Rafferty was next on the scoresheet after dribbling a loose ball soccer-style to the line before touching down.

Then he completed his brace minutes later with a try that was reminiscent of Ellery Hanley in his prime, first breaking the attempted tackles before showing enough pace to round the full-back and fend off the cover defender, with a goose step thrown in for good measure.

Knapper scored his second long-range try of the afternoon before Danny Halsall completed the rout, latching on to a short Lynch pass.

The tireless Mark Briody was the Amdec man of the match.
