LIVERPOOL under 19s have a bit more travelling to do in the Next Gen series before they head for some home comforts at Saints’ Langtree Park.

The soccer giants will be playing three of their European group games at Saints as well as their under 21 reserves clash against Chelsea.

Having started their campaign with a 3-2 defeat against champions Inter Milan, the Reds travel to Rosenborg and face Dortmund before facing the same opponents in St Helens.

And young Reds winger Jordon Ibe, who was in St Helens on Tuesday to promote the series, is looking forward to the Reds playing in town.

Ibe said: “I think it is better that we have started off our campaign away because the opposition don’t really know how we play. We are at their grounds and so they have to play better than us. “It is a good experience. It is different playing against teams that play a different style of football and it's great to test yourself.”

Ibe was impressed by what he has seen of Saints’ home so far – and is looking forward to getting out on to the pitch this time after staying on the bench during last season’s defeat by Dutch masters Ajax.

“It is a good stadium – nice and big,” he said.

“A lot of fans will turn up – I remember that from being on the bench last year against Ajax and there were a lot of passionate supporters in the crowd - and I remember there being a great atmosphere here that night.

“Hopefully they can come and support us again this season as we want to do well in the Series.

These are exciting times at Anfield for the young Reds. Players will be out to catch the eye.

“A lot of young players are getting their chances in the first team with there being lots of injuries,” said Ibe.

“I try to keep my head down but I need to get a goal soon to improve my confidence.”

The Reds face Rosenborg on November 13 at 7pm and then Borussia Dortmund on November 28, 6pm.

The date for their clash against Inter Milan is to be confirmed but will take place at Langtree Park.
