Young Saints back rower joins Dewsbury
3:00pm Monday 8th October 2012 in Sport
YOUNG Saints second rower Scott Hale has joined Dewsbury Rams. The 20-year-old made his debut under Royce Simmons last year, playing four times off the bench and scoring one try.
However, he has not featured in the first team this term given the strength in depth of the Saints back row.
Instead Hale, who joined Saints from Haydock Warriors, had a dual-registration loan spell with Swinton Lions in 2012. Rams head coach Glenn Morrison said: “Scott is a big, athletic back rower, who can also play in the centres. He runs great lines down the edges and is adept at creating opportunities for those around him.
"He joins us from a Super League environment, having trained full-time throughout his career, and I am sure we will reap the benefits of that, but I also feel there is a little more development in him.
"There were other clubs chasing him and one or two Super League clubs were having a look at him too, so it's fantastic that we've been able to bring him to the to the Rams. He is a great talent."
