St Maries Vikings 16 Pilkington Recs 40

RYAN Rogers’ sublime hat-trick helped Recs cruise to a comfortable victory under the Friday night lights of the Stobart Stadium.

The visitors fell behind early on but once they got into their stride St Maries could not halt the free flowing attacks.

Teenage winger Andrew Knapper was first to cross for four points before loose forward Jamie Smith surged over.

An exquisite passing exchange then put centre Ian Stanley between the posts, though the Widnesians did halt the procession with a try moments after the re-start.

However, Smith rumbled over for his second and Lynch added his fourth conversion of the evening to make it 10-24 at half time.

Recs stepped up the pace in the second half with full back Rogers injecting himself into the game with a wonderful long range kick return.

Greg Smith then teed up the long striding number one’s second before, shortly afterwards, he popped up in support out wide to complete his hat-trick.
