St Helens and District Football Combination, Weekly Report

The St Helens and District Football Combination started with its first night fixtures on the 28th August.
Leading the goal getters Were Diamonds who put 9 past Clock Face Miners( 9-2 ) ,Prescot Sun Inn had a 4-2 win at York whilst Newstreet humbled Knowsley South 1-5 at Lord Derbies. Champions Penlake just piped Bold Rangers 4-3 at home whilst St Helens Town Res had a commendable 2-0 home win against Rainford North End.
In the RG Trophies Division One; Newboys West Park and Sutton Heath battled to a 2-2 draw whilst Bowling Green outpaced Sumner Street 7-3 to take their tally to 15 goals in 2 games, Wheaty;s away trip proved fruitfull with a solid 2-4 away win at Old Congs. The remaining 3 fixtures in the Division had the same 3-1 home wins for Prescott Sun Reserves, Lions Grove, Carborundum.
Thursday 30th August saw three games in Division Two; Newstreet Reserves put 5 without reply away to Sutton Junction Reserves, Rockware held on for a 2-4 away win at Sidac Social whilst Sutton Manor just piped Legion 3-2 at home.
On Saturday 1st September there was a full league schedule with Diamonds again hitting the headlines with a 10-0 demolition of Sutton Junction, 27 goals in three games see’s them set an early standard. Rainford North End got back to winning ways with a good 4-1 win against Penlake, York just edged a narrow 2-1 home win against St Helens Town Res whilst Knowsley South edged Prescott Sun inn 2-1 in their local derby.
In Division One;Prescot Sun Reserves thumped Brown Edge 7-2 at home, Sutton Heath had a solid 4-0 home win against Knowsley South Res, Lions Grove kept up their 100% wins with a narrow 2-3 away win against Mere. Old Congs beat West Park 2-4 at Bishop Road whist there were two 2-2 draws between Sumner Street- Carborundum, and Moss Bank and Wheaty.
In Division Two Working Mens edged out Penlake 3-5, Rock ware and Legion shared the goals and a point with a 2-2 draw, Newstreet Res had a good 1-3 away win at Sidac Social and Sutton Manor hit Sutton Junction Reserves for 6 in a 6-3 win.
