Prescot Cables unveil new signings

Prescot Cables new manager Dave Powell has started the task of assembling his playing squad for next season by announcing a number a key signings after the team’s first training session on Tuesday night.

The Cables Manager has been impressed with the standard and commitment of all the players who attended the pre season trials and the first training session held last night.

Eight of last season’s squad have been re-registered for the coming season and include Liam Hollett, fan’s favourite James Thomas and consistent performer Jamie McCulloch. Also retained are Joe Booth, Stephen Kelly and the goalkeeping trio of Stephen Longrigg, Brian Pilkington and Jack Earle.

Dave Powell has added a blend of youth and experience to his squad for next season with the acquisition of seven new players.

Mike Douglas player/assistant manager is a vastly experienced midfield player having played most recently for Stafford Rangers. Two young local players from Merseyside have also been added to the squad. Ryan Buitendyke is a centre half who was at Fleetwood Town and Matty Parker is a young left sided midfielder who has just been released by Morecambe.

Experience arrives in the shape of Dave Dempsey who can play in midfield or at left back and local man Andy McCoy. Dempsey has a wealth of experience in non league football having played for Clitheroe, Kendal Town, Leigh Genesis and Runcorn Linnets whilst Andy McCoy is a right sided midfielder whose last club was Congleton Town. He has also appeared for Runcorn, Chester and Tranmere Rovers.

Joel Igenoza and Mark Bailey two powerful strikers have also been recruited for the forthcoming campaign.

Cables Manager Dave Powell will be adding to these signings in the coming weeks, and discussions are ongoing with a number of players following the initial training sessions which were very well attended.
