Wellens and Laffranchi face disciplinary action

TWO Saints players have been charged with disciplinary offences committed during their side’s Round 9 fixtures last weekend.

Captain Paul Wellens and team-mate Anthony Laffranchi have both been charged with separate Grade B dangerous tackle offences during their 28-16 victory over Warrington Wolves on Friday.

Wellens’s referral follows a seventh-minute tackle on Lee Briers while Laffranchi is said to have placed his opponent Chris Bridge in a dangerous position in the 59th minute of the game. Wellens and Laffranchi have until 11am tomorrow (Tuesday) to submit an Early Guilty Plea.

A ban for either would rule them out of Good Friday's clash with Wigan.

chasman, the citing of the two Saints players IS the Rugby League evening up the teams. Don't believe a word from Wigan. They will have a full team.
Still our reserves will do even a better job.

I'm not surprised about the possibility of either ban to be honest. They were both terrible tackles. Stupid play by Wello and Laffranchi.

One thing that stands out for me
since i have watching NRL. is
most of the grade one teams
have fast exciting full backs,that
hit the line at pace, this could be
the chance to try one of their
pacy youngsters there,as it seems, Wellens will be suspended, anyhow good luck
lads against our neighbours.

Hopefully Makinson will play at fullback and give us more of what he showed at the Grand Final. Makinson is a very exciting player and I have no idea why he has been dropped. (Well, I do: probably because Meli was having a pout and wanted to play on the wing)
