ST HELENS Sutton A.C. hosted the second match in this year’s Manchester & District Cross-country league in surprisingly good conditions in Sherdley Park.
The senior men finished sixth of the 28 teams competing.
They were led by Matt Crehan who finished a fine fifth and second under 20yrs, in this large field in 34 min.57 secs.
Next was Tony Smith, 26th in 37 min.43s, then Barry Graney, 44th in 38 min.59s, followed by Jake Healy, 60th, 40 min.9s, Rob Marsh, 61st, 40 min.12 s, and Ian White, 68th, 40 min.22s.
Outside the counting six were Maurice Collins, 40 min.42, Dennis Wharton, 42 min.4, Mark Davies, 42 min.54, Ian Costello, 44 min.4s, Ray Vose, 44 min.21s, Peter Johnson, 44 min.30s, John Appleton, 46 min.12s, Steven Clague, 46 min.43s, James Beesley, 49 min.59s and John Skinley, 51 min.3s.
The veterans team of Barry, Ian, Maurice and Dennis finished fifth.
The Under 11 years Girls team of Alex Bottomley, 31st, 11 min.57s, Adele Tate, 36th 12 min.24s, and Hanna Seabrook, 37th. 12 min.25s, finished ninth. Also running were Abbie Roberts, 13 min.13s, and Chloe Orrick, 13 min.55 secs.
The U11s Boys team finished fourth with Adam Woosey 4th. in 9 min.31 secs, Joseph Walker 18th, 10 min.19 secs, and Anthony Walker 27th, 11min.13 secs.
The U13s girls also finished fourth, Danielle Webb was 11th in 10 min.0 secs, Rachel McGoldrick 14th, 10 min.13 secs, and Lucy Griffiths 16th, 10 min.21 secs.
They were supported by Maria McGoldrick, 10 min.39 secs, Rachel Woosey, 10 min.43 secs, and Sally Ashton, 11 min.14 secs.
The U13s boys Daniel Elston, 17th in 14 min.20s, Owen Kennedy, 28th, 15 min.18s, and Paul Tait, 32nd, 22 min.20s, were sixth.
The U15s girls team of Chelsea Jarvis, 9th in 14 min.44 secs, Vicky Lamb 19th, 15 min.27 secs, and Rachel 22nd, 15 min.55 secs. were fourth.
The boys team were fifth with Matt Shirling being a clear winner in 16 min.33 secs, supporting were Chris Garrity 21st in 21 min.24s. and Alex Bleakley 22nd in 21 min.53 secs.
The club’s only runner in the U17yrs Women’s event was Natalie Garrity, 12th in 24 min.22 secs.
The U17s Men’s team provided success with fine runs from John Ashcroft 2nd, 23 min.28 secs, Jamie White, 7th in 25 min.30 secs, and Dave Griffiths 10th in 26 min.8 secs.
The senior women’s team finished 11th led, as usual, by Gemma Connolly in fifth place, 27 min.16 secs. Supporting her were Louise Hogg, 43rd, 31 min.29 secs.
