A LAST ditch length of the field try from Kieron Maddocks proved the difference at this muddy corner of Wakefield.
The home side took the lead with a penalty only to see Heath bomb two tries.
The Knights increased their lead with a try before Heath opened their account.
After big drives from Mick Ledger and Martin Shea, Johnny Hughes scooted right dummying his way over the line.
Normanton kicked a penalty to lead at the break by four points.
The second half started with more of the same. The home side pounding Heath down the middle and extending the lead to eight with two more penalties.
But in the final 20 Heath ground their way back into the game. Andy Bailey broke through down Heath’s right, took it to the full back and fed it inside to James Hitchmough who scored in the corner.
Heroic defence twice kept the Knights out. The last time in the final minute of normal time saw Heath regain possession on their own line.
A massive drive from Carl Lamb took play away from the sticks. A quick play the ball gave Maddocks the chance to dart to the left.
His short ball to Shaun Quinn then on to Darren Woods put the winger away down the left. He beat his opposite number and took it 40 metres to the full back before feeding the supporting Maddocks on the inside. He managed to shrug off the cover before sliding over behind the sticks for the decisive score. Quinn converted to win the game.
