TWO fantastic days of competition at the magnificent Inselbad 50m outdoor pool in Stuttgart, Germany gave the young swimmers of St Helens High Performance Swim Squad who were sponsored by Riverside Housing, a plethora of medals and top 8 certificates against top opposition from all over Europe.
Leading the way were National Swimmers Alex Dunk with four golds, one silver and three bronze medals and Will Warburton with 3 gold and two silver medals.
Will's performance in winning the 100m backstroke had many German onlookers comparing him to the great Roland Matthes.
Eleven- year-old Dannii Tither really excelled with 3 silver and 2 bronze medals, coming second overall in the under 13-year-old Youth Cup.
Laura Thurling had an excellent second day winning a silver and bronze medal to add to her 8th place on Saturday.
Not to be overshadowed by her younger sister, Carla Tither claimed a fourth, two fifth and a seventh place, whilst Jessica Bolton managed four top 8 positions.
Kate Rimmer came 6th in the 50m backstroke with Kate Sanders coming seventh in the 50m Breaststroke.
Although suffering from an appendicitis which later needed a stay in hospital Kerryanne Gough amazingly managed seventh place in the 50m Backstroke and just 0.21sec outside her personal best.
Completing the successful weekend Nathan Coy came seventh in the 50m Backstroke, Tom Hughes seventh in the Butterfly and Phil Morgan 10th in the 50m Breaststroke.
