SAINTS will be without centre Ryan Morgan for Saturday’s trip to Catalans, but the head knock is not a long-term worry.

The Australian centre took an accidental knee to the head early on in Friday’s derby defeat by Wigan.

But it is not related to previous head knocks he has suffered this term.

Coach Justin Holbrook said: “He’s fine, but unfortunately it’s another head knock.

“He just got an accidental knee. He has had a bad run with head knocks, but any player on the end of that would have had the same result. He got a cut on the side of his head.

“He will miss this week unfortunately, but the good news is that he was not dazed.

“But it was some form of concussion when you get a knee to the head like that.

“It is a shame for him – he has missed a few weeks already, but the specialist said the injury was not similar to the others.”

In his place 20-year-old centre Matty Costello is expected to slot in.

The other option of switching Tommy Makinson there does not appear to be an option given Adam Swift’s shoulder injury.

Saints are still waiting to see if Swift can avoid having surgery before the end of the year.

“We won’t know until later this week whether he is getting operated on on Friday or whether it will be delayed a few weeks. It depends on if he can get through training without any symptoms, or popping out, they will delay it. But if he can’t get through contact on Wednesday he will have surgery on Friday.

"He is not in the mix for selection on Saturday," Holbrook said.
