PARKDALE Sidac are celebrating Presidents Cup wins at two age groups — and now both the club’s under 14s and 15s have their eyes fixed on the double.

Winning those cups is no mean feat with the 60 and 50 teams taking part in those respective age groups.

Paul Blakemore, who is vice chairman of the club and coach of the under 14s, said: “We are a small club in comparison to others, but we are strong in the 14s and 15s age group.

“It was quite an achievement for a St Helens club to go into a Warrington league and win both cups.”

In the finals played at Victoria Park, Warrington, the 15s beat Newton 4-1 with the 14s, who won the treble last year, beating Earlestown 3-2.

But they don’t want to stop there and both sides have the title in their sights.

Blakemore added: “The under U15s are currently top of Premier League currently if they win their next games they will win the league.

“Likewise with the U14s, if we have good results in the remaining five then we would win the league.

“If that were to happen to have double winners in both age groups would be incredible and I don’t think you’d see that in a good while.”

Blakemore put the success of both teams down to the standards set by the coaches and the response of the players.

“We have committed coaches and players with high standards.

“We are well disciplined with training, attitude and expectation.

“On top of that we try to coach the right way with skills and drills,” he said.
