SAINTS want to bring Fiji World Cup skipper Kevin Naiqama to the club for next season.

Coach Justin Holbrook rates the Wests Tigers outside back as the sort of person and player who would add even more quality and threat to the Saints' dazzling backline.

The 29-year old, who has also played NRL with Newcastle Knights and Penrith, can cover centre, wing and full back Holbrook said: “There have been talks with him and hopefully we are close.

“It would be great to get a player like that here.”

When asked to outline Naiqama's qualities Holbrook said: “Kevin has plenty of speed; he is a genuine try scorer but generally a great outside back who can do some great things with the ball.

“Off the field, too, he would be an asset.

“He is the captain of Fiji and they are a very humble nation and family orientated so they know how to do the right things.

“For him to be captain of his country shows what a quality person he is.

“We want good people who are great players – and he is both of those things so if we could get him here it would be great.”
