NEWTON finish top of the group after their 45-10 win over Wallasey.
Newton never hit the form they showed last week and at times lost direction. Considering Wallasey have struggled all season they mustered a stronger team and all credit must go to them for their never-say-die attitude.
Newton ran in seven tries, two each from Andy McKenna and Danny Reilly while Paul Mannion, Mike Hallet and Chris Robinson grabbed one each.
Andy McKenna added five conversions.
Newton now face Ashton under Lyne at The Sports Club on Saturday, 3pm.
