PILKINGTON Recs suffered a Challenge Cup knockout at Coventry Bears but not before they had given the League 1 plenty to think about before losing 31-20.
Recs rocked the hosts with a third minute Chris Clayton try and they stretched the lead to 10-0 on the quarter mark with a Tez Riley try, goaled by Danny Lynch.
Coventry hit back with tries from James Mason and Paul Emanuelli to take a 12-10 lead at the break.
However, Recs were first out of the blocks in the second half with Clayton grabbing his second.
Lynch's second goal gave Recs a four-point lead.
However, the game turned on the hour mark with tries from Hayden Freeman and Jason Bass pushing the Midlanders ahead.
But still Recs came back with a 69th minute Tom Chisnall try keeping alive their hopes of playing Widnes in the next round.
But they could not close that gap with a converted Jason Mason try and Emanuelli drop goal wrapping up the scoring.
