RUSKIN Park came out 22-20 winners against Orrell in the cup semi final at a bitterly cold Winstanley College.
Orrell opened proceedings with a unconverted try straight from a five metre scrum.
Ruskin playing against the strong wind replied with an excellent left wing try by tom lea to level the scores, parity was short lived as first Orrell crossed from short range for another unconverted try and then a penalty, to reach half time leading 13- 5.
Now playing with the slope and elements Ruskin fell further behind, as poor tackling allowed Orrell to score a converted try under the posts.
Ruskin now had it all to do, but determined play saw Craig Orrick crash over, and Mike Farrelly add a further try both converted by skipper Westhead to close the gap to one point.
The game swung in Ruskin's favour with five minutes remaining, as Westhead coolly slotted over a penalty, Orrell responded resolutely only for Ruskin see out the game for the narrowest of wins.
Ruskin will now play LHS in the final on May 3.
