SATURDAY saw the UK Inter Counties, held at the mudbath that was Prestwold Hall, Loughborough.

St Helens Sutton A.C. were proud to have four athletes representing Merseyside.

Charlie Roberts and Joseph Byrne were the first representatives taking part in their first inter counties in the under 15 boys team with Charlie finishing 276th in 22:37 and Joseph in 284th in 23:05.

In the senior Women’s race Kelly Hamilton, after a slight shoe mishap, finished 206th 42:27, while Matt Crehan finished inside the top 100 in 96th and third counter for the Merseyside team.

Saturday also saw more locally the running of the Chester Ultra a 52 mile race around the city, which saw Sutton’s Collette Flaherty take a top 100th finishing in 93rd and 18th Woman.

Despite it being Mothering Sunday, six athletes travelled to East Cheshire to compete in an open cross country, two of which competed for the club for their first time.

Poppy Ward and Luke Wilson ran in their first under nine races.

Poppy finished 31st in the girls race and Luke finished 27th in the boys.

For the under 11 girls, Daisy Ward finished 21st.

The club had a team in the under 11 boys; this consisted of Gabriel Mullen, Will Vose and Liam Johnson. Gabriel led the boys home in 6th place, followed by Will in 17th and Liam in 25th, meaning the team finished 5th overall.
