St Helens Striders travelled the relatively short distance to Liverpool's Sefton Park for the Tony Barnes 5 mile road race last week.
Club veteran Ste Pickavance was first Strider home with a time of 32 minutes 32 seconds, followed just two seconds later by the in-form Danny Fegan.
Newcomer Gary Carney clocked a promising time of 32.52 just 10 seconds ahead of the evergreen John Lingard.
Les Abbott ran well to finish in 33.34 and Alex Jackson brought the Striders' men's contingent home with a time of 35.35.
There was another good turn out from the Striders' women's section with Honor Duffield first Strider home in 38.08.
Rachel Fishwick continued her recent improvement with a solid race to finish in 37.27. Claire Pickavance ran well to finish in 39.02 closely followed by Carol Foster 39.45 and Dawn Platt 40.51.
