DESPITE being known as the hardest cross country course of the North West Cross Country season league, Striders were out in force to compete in the 4.5 mile race at Beacon Park on Sunday.

It was a bit of a family affair too, with Jon-Jo Doherty, who took the honours of first Strider home finishing in 6th place, competing against his cousin and newest Strider, James Allen who finished in 11th place.

James was followed by David Wilson in 27th place. Carla Langley, who was the first female Strider home, convinced her mother, Vera Langley, to compete in what was her first cross country race in 17 years.

Adam Pointon and Eric Ranson travelled to Las Vegas to compete in the Rock and Roll half marathon.

Jenny Martin, Mark Fillingham, Rob Andrews and Ian Spencer travelled to Lytham to brave the wind and push for a personal best in the Fylde Coast Windmill 10k road race.

It was a close call, especially for Rob who was the first Strider to finish the race in 44:24, which was two seconds shy of his 10k PB.

Jenni Houghton and Lauren Green competed in their first half marathon at Tatton Park and were joined by fellow Strider, Darren Eccles.
