ON the whole, it was a quiet weekend for St Helens Sutton, with only a senior women’s team competing at the Northern Road Relays over in Manchester on Saturday, and St Helens Sutton’s beginner group taking on the English Half Marathon and 10k races just down the road in Warrington on Sunday.

At the Northern Road Relay Championships, a team and half represented Sutton with the complete team of Rachel Beesley, Rachel Wilcox, Chloe Dowdle and Louise Hayes, finishing with a cumulative time of 1:58.38, while Amy Corfield and Shannon Partington, ran as an incomplete team running 24:44 and 25:16 respectively.

Sunday saw a great turnout from Sutton at the local events over in Warrington, with a number of athletes running significant PB’s over both the 10k and half marathon distance.

Following their run in the road relays the previous day Beesley, Corfield and Wilcox took on the half marathon course joined by Beesley’s brother Will, while Louise Hayes competed in the 10k running a new PB.

Also in the 10k and running an impressive new PB to round out his first year of competing for the club was Neil Lowe, other 10k competitors from St Helens Sutton included, Club Run Leader, Kay Wilcox leading by example, Lisa Hayburn, Janet Holmes, Denise Roberts and Louise Hill.

With all the Sutton athletes showing the true spirit of the club, where enjoyment and friendship are paramount and every individual is encouraged to reach their potential.
