DO not be fooled by the 36-12 scoreline; as the game reached the hour mark this South Lancs/Cheshire One game was evenly poised at 12-12 with the some of the Moss Lane Faithful beginning to steel themselves for an upset.

They need not have worried though as the youngish Medics resolute efforts in the previous 60 minutes caught up with them just at the same time as an experienced LSH found another gear.

The final quarter saw four excellent tries, two each from two of LSH’s most promising young wingers, John Romano and Alex McBride, with McBride completing a match hat-trick, to give LSH a third consecutive five point win and leave the Medics with no points but some satisfaction from their strong and impressive performance.

LSH took the field with Danny Webster making his comeback after a lengthy injury and the young flanker wasted no time in getting stuck in to produce an eye-catching display. LSH went ahead after nine minutes when Josh Houghton crossed after good work from Dave Cunliffe, converted by Dan Filson.

The Medics then bossed the next 30 minutes or so, scoring two tries and strongly defending everything LSH could muster.

The first was from a catch and drive and the second in the 29th minute from a neat backs move, converted.

The visitors' defensive wall was eventually breached right on the half time whistle when McBride raced over after a quick passing movement featuring Houghton and Filson to make it 12-12.

The third quarter was played as a stalemate with the Medics having most of the possession but failing to make it count and LSH seemingly waiting for their opportunity to pounce.

And pounce they did as McBride notched his second in the 61st minute followed 10 minutes later by Romano latching on to a pass from Darren Wilson on the blind side of a scrum, converted by Filson.

Now in the ascendancy, Romano raced down the right wing to score again before McBride completed his hat-trick with a superb 75-yarder, converted by Filson to finish the scoring at 36-12 with two minutes to go.

This week LSH are away at Anselmians. 3pm .
