ST HELENS Striders proved its presence as a top Merseyside Running Club with lots of achievements across the weekend.

Peter Fairclough, Jon-Jo Doherty, Mark Riley, Scott Roberston, Kelly Hamilton, Emma Callery and Rachael Fairclough kicked the weekend off in Blackpool, competing in the North West Road Relays at Stanley Park.

County medals were awarded and Striders' ladies team won silver out of the Merseyside teams that competed.

Lisa Cheers came first lady at the very first Rainhill 10k road race in a time of 47 minutes and 20 seconds.

Other Striders taking part in this local event were Anthony Cheers, Adam Pointon, Paul Burdett and Rachel Tickle.

Wendy Davies, Sue Heaps, Tony Dagnal and Mike Waring crossed the Mersey to take part in the last of the Merseyside Grand Prix races, Wendy and Sue competing in the Wirral Half Marathon and Tony and Mike competing in the Wirral 10k. Sue achieved a new half marathon personal best time of 1.54.27 and Tony achieved a 10k season best of 45.35. Final club and individual results for the Merseyside Grand Prix to be confirmed later in the week.

Over in Southport, Daniel Cheetham and Simon Poole competed in the Delamere Forest 13 and Delamere Forest 10 respectively whilst Emma Callery competed in her second race of the weekend in Manchester in the Manchester 10k, finishing 5th lady.

Finishing off a busy and successful weekend for Striders, Danny Fegan, Kylie Maguire, Peter Medlicott, Adrian Pridgeon, Katie Taggart, Jade Booth, Michael Dodd and Colin Leyland headed north to compete against the likes of Mo Farah and other famous athletes in Great North Run.
