St Helens Sutton athlete Michael Causer was back on the podium this Sunday, this time at the England Athletics and UK CAU Senior Championships at Bedford.

Causer took the silver medal over a competitive long jump field of the country's best, with a jump of 7.40m, just missing the gold by 3cm.

After a few years out due to injuries, Causer is well on his way back to the top of his game, with not only getting the silver from the England Athletics Champs, but also receiving the silver from the UK CAU Championships, representing Merseyside.

Last week also saw a couple Sutton vets take on some rather extreme challenges at the Scorcher Run Festival, with Andrew Wilson taking on and winning the 50km race on day three of the festival with 3:47.48, while Collette Flaherty completed not one but three marathons across the week, finishing 1st lady in the day one marathon in 4:27.28, and then keeping those times very similar across marathon 2 and 3 with 4:30.58 and 4:41.10.
