FORMER Saints and Great Britain scrum half Neil Holding will be giving a talk in October in order to raise awareness of the work of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Holding, a star on the field from 1977 to the mid 90s, became a much-loved funny man on the mic during the early years of Super League - even if that occasionally landed him in hot water across the lump.

The theme of his talk is Memories and he will be chatting about his life; growing up, his parents, work and his Saints career at the event at the Percival Rooms, Ruskin Drive, at 8pm on Saturday, 28 October.

The event sees an auction, hosted by psychic medium David Samba, and a special appearance from the balloon dancers.

Tickets for the event cost £15 and that includes entry into the raffle.

Call 07861 705307 to reserve tickets.

Anyone in a position to donate raffle prizes should contact the number above or via Neil Holding’s Facebook page.

The full story of what motivated Holding to stage this event will appear in next week’s Star along with a reflection of the former Saint’s career.
