ON Wednesday 12 July, 17 St Helens Striders competed in the Tony Barnes Memorial five-mile race at Sefton Park, Liverpool.

Scott Robertson was the first male Strider to finish with a personal best time of 30.59, followed by Kevin Brennan in 31.13 and Mark Riley with a PB of 31.42. Kelly Hamilton was the first Strider female and second female overall, with a time of 31.59, followed by Kylie Maguire with a PB time of 35.05 and Emma Callery in 36.41.

On Sunday 16 July, 15 Striders took park in the Griffin Grind, a local race in support of the Isabella Rose Foundation. Jon-Jo Doherty of Striders won the race in a speedy time of 28.23. Jon-Jo was followed by Kevin Brennan in 30.49 and Eric Ranson in 32.46. Kelly Hamilton bagged first female place in a time of 32.01 and was followed by Lisa Cheers in 36.09 and Emma Callery in 36.43.

Back to Sefton Park, which was host to the Liverpool Ladies 10k race also on Sunday 16 July. Representing Striders were Rebecca McKenna, Marie Chesworth, Adele Crawford, Jade Booth, Elaine Porter and Cheryl Orrick.
