SAINTS have entered into a Dual Registration agreement with Championship Sheffield Eagles.

The partnership will last for the rest of the 2017 season and continue next year.

As part of the agreement, Saints will allow first team squad players to feature for the Eagles in the Kingstone Press Championship as well as continuing to utilise the Reserve Team system.

They will not, however, be able to send overseas players like Dom Peyroux out on dual registration due to the terms of his working visa.

However, he can play in the reserves if he continues to miss out on first team selection.

Saints Chief Executive Mike Rush said: “We’re grateful to both Mark Aston and the Eagles for entering into an agreement which will be beneficial for both clubs.

“It’s clear that some members of our first team squad need more game time and this partnership allows them to get that at a strong level in the Championship.

“We look forward to watching our players develop from this agreement.”

The agreement will also see Sheffield make players available for our Reserve Team fixtures with Saints providing additional business support for the Eagles in the commercial sector, marketing and other areas.

Sheffield Head Coach Mark Aston added: “This is just what we need, a great link with a great club. We need regular players who are hungry to play and the ones that will be available to us will provide that.

“Adding quality players to our squad every week will bring continuity and in turn bring the consistency which we crave.”

Saints’ Jack Owens is currently on loan at Sheffield until the end of the season whilst centre Jake Spedding has also spent time with the Eagles this year.
