IT is usually the rugby lads from Blackbrook grabbing the headlines for sporting achievement, but the district’s footballers can rightly take a bow following a tremendous season.

The Blackbrook Under 13s, who play in the St Helens and Rainhill League, have completed an historic treble.

They became the first St Helens team to win the Liverpool County FA Saturday Cup, which they did by beating Club Sport from Liverpool 2-1.

The Blackbrook side won the league and finally they defeated Knowsley South 3-0 in the League Cup - a treble after winning every game they have played this season.

This is a great achievement for Blackbrook considering the standard of opposition they have played against.

Team manager Ian Morley said: “What a perfect season by the lads I can’t praise them enough.

“The attitude has been great on and off the field they are a great bunch of lads “How can we top this season?”

Coach Paul Naylor added: “The lads are a credit to St. Helens and it’s been an honour to work with them.”

The team will now focus on the Manchester Super Cup after they were invited to take part against academy teams from all over Europe and America.

Blackbrook FC is a community standard club who are always looking for new players; junior, open age and the vets teams.
