NEW boss Justin Holbrook will get a home baptism of fire when Saints entertain Wigan tonight (Thursday) hoping to build on the Magic success.

And Holbrook knows what to expect having heard the noise blasting through his television set when watching Super League back home.

But tonight the decibels will be raised a notch further as Saints aim to move within a point of their rivals and produce a back-to-back win for only the second time this year.

Holbrook said: “It is huge for St Helens and Wigan.

“Wigan have had a lot of players out injured and that is why they are sitting where they are, but they have got a lot back now.

"They have got a good football team and Shaun Wane must be a good coach to have them firing the way they have.

"We need our forwards to play well. Big Al was outstanding at Newcastle but the performance he put in on Saturday needs to continue on Thursday.

“I got here at a good time.

“I was fortunate enough to get here in time for the Magic Weekend and then I roll into a local derby.

“It is huge for both Saints and Wigan and I’m sure it will be a good game.

“I have been involved in derbies and it does not matter where the teams are sitting, all bets are off.

“There is so much personal rivalry that goes on with two teams that border each other and I sure we are in for a cracking game.

“You can hear how noisy the crowds are when we watch back home on the television, there’s so much enjoyment in watching the game.

“Over here the fans bring the excitement and the football follows after it.

“I am really looking forward to being part of that now.”
