CHAMPIONSHIP 1 side Whitehaven came down to train with Haresfinch on Friday ahead of both their games at the weekend.

It was a chance for the two clubs to run through their plays and hone their game plans, whilst also giving Finch the opportunity for their players to train with high calibre players.

Carl Forster, the former Saints prop, was really pleased with the event.

“It’s been great, it’s the best preparation possible. With a squad of 22, we can’t put 13 v 13 out; and it’s been great to get away from Whitehaven, get on the road and give ourselves the best preparation.

"We really appreciate Haresfinch for letting us come down, use the facilities and get a good hit out.”

Forster had a spell coaching Haresfinch during his Saints days and on a personal level, he was excited to be back at his old stomping ground.

“I love it here, I still keep tabs with the boys and it’s nice to be back but on the other team!”

The session seemed to pay dividends for Whitehaven who went on to beat London Skolars on Saturday but unfortunately, a depleted Haresfinch side lost out to Wigan St. Pats 26-42 despite a spirited fight that saw Finch reduced to 11 men in the end because of injuries.
