A TEAM of St Helens Striders runners and supporters headed south for the Virgin Money London Marathon this weekend.

Natalie Ann Duckworth, Peter Bennett, Rob Davenport, Stuart Tagg, Kev Outten and Colin Wilson all completed the gruelling distance, taking in the spectacular sights of London in the sunshine.

Rob was the first Strider home in an incredible sub-3 hour time of 2:56:33.

A special mention goes to Stuart, running his first sub-4 hour marathon on behalf of the UK Sepsis Trust, in memory of his son, Thomas Jacob Tagg.

All of the club's runners were cheered on by other Striders, friends and family as well as the local crowds.

In the equally as glamorous surroundings of Blackpool, Peter Teeling and Tony Dagnall took on the Fylde Coast Runners marathon and half marathon.

Peter completed the marathon in a time of 4:24:38.

Tony finished the half marathon in 1:40:40 and came second in the Male Vet Over 60 category. In true Strider style, Tony headed back out to complete a few extra miles in support of Peter.
