SAINTS head coach Keiron Cunningham sees this week’s opponents Huddersfield Giants in a similar light to the last team that visited the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Rick Stone’s side head over the Pennines on the back of a poor start, compounded by last week’s 52-16 loss at form team Castleford Tigers though the threat is clear from last month’s 16-16 draw at Wigan.

“It’s going to be a really tough game,” said Cunningham of opponents who include former Saints Lee Gaskell and Paul Clough in their ranks.

“They missed Danny Brough last week and a couple of other lads through injury.

“Danny’s back this week and I’m sure they’ll bring a couple back.

“It’s like when we played Warrington because they were backed into a corner and desperate for a win. Huddersfield are going to be the same.”

Huddersfield, who have been missing the services of Jake Mamo, Michael Lawrence, Aaron Murphy, Oliver Roberts, Tom Symonds and Nathan Mason, have caught Cunningham’s eye.

“They’re actually attacking really good, a lot better than they were last year, so we know they’re going to pose a threat,” he said.

“But this week is 100 per cent about us and how we start and how physical we are.

“We’ve got to start winning the collision battle from minute one and that’s where we’re going to target.”
