We continue our weekly feature, looking back at a match from the past between Saints and the evenings opponents.

This week we go back to March 3, 2005 and one of the most remarkable comebacks in the game at Warrington.

"Graham Appo....to win the match for Warrington."

So said the commentator Eddie Hemmings, and with a 16-4 lead on 71 minutes who could blame him for committing, what was then, the cardinal sin of writing of the Saints.

What followed was remarkable.

A penalty almost immediately from the restart when ex-Saint failed to play the ball properly gave Ian Millward's men chance to attack straight away.

And it seemed simplicity itself when Paul Wellens threw a nice pass wide for Darren Albert to gallop over unopposed.

Wellens missed the conversion but Saints had that tiny glimmer of hope at 16-8.

Back they came and hooker Micky Higham drove to the line, only for the video ref to say he was short.

Saints resumed and two tackles later Keiron Cunningham threw the finest of passes, picking the right man, to send Higham over by the posts.

This time Wellens slotted the extras, but with less than three minutes on the clock they were up against it.

A vigorous defensive set against a Wolves side that seemed content to run the clock down saw Lee Briers having to kick on his 30 metre.

So back Saints came, and on the fourth tackle with just four seconds on the clock Jamie Lyon lofted the ball to the right.

By the time it had come down the hooter had sounded, but Albert was up in the air for it.

In a fine piece of play he cupped the ball backwards where the alert Cunningham hoovered it up and drove through the three Wolves defenders on the line.

It went upstairs, but there was no disputing it - Saints had pulled off a smash and grab raise and won 18-16.
